The Government Submitted a Bill to the State Duma Limiting the Time Frame for Challenging Privatization Deals

The Economic Development Ministry’s bill sets maximum limitation periods for lawsuits involving privatized property.

Under the bill, the period may be three years from the moment a violation is identified and may not exceed ten years “from the date the property was transferred out,” Vedomosti writes.

At the same time, the amendments do not apply to the seizure of privatized property under “anti-corruption” and “anti-extremist” lawsuits. The bill also does not apply to lawsuits over violations of the rules on “foreign investment in strategic companies.”
