The governor of Russia’s Belgorod Region may be offered the post of Russian ambassador to Abkhazia

This is reported by Vedomosti, citing four sources close to the presidential administration.

According to one of them, “it’s not a bad career track” for Vyacheslav Gladkov “if he wants to catch his breath.” Another source told the newspaper that appointing Gladkov ambassador to partially recognized Abkhazia is “an entirely workable option.”

The sources believe the job would not require a heavy workload and “allows him to spend time in Sochi while remaining in the mainstream of state policy,” which предполагает serious attention to the republic, Vedomosti writes.

Gladkov, according to the sources, is held in high regard in the presidential administration.

🔵On April 16, the governor of the Belgorod Region announced that he was taking leave amid rumors of his imminent resignation.
