Twenty-four-year-old Artem Bykov is bisexual. In Russia, representatives of the LGBT community have a rough time even in civilian life, to put it mildly (Artem’s fate is also telling here). Let alone the army, soaked through with misanthropy and prison customs.

The poor guy was shoved into service by his own mother, who effectively disowned him. He ended up in a rear-area post in the 273rd Artillery Brigade of the 34th Guards Artillery Division, stationed in the settlement of Mulino in Nizhny Novgorod Region — a “showcase” unit that Putin even visited in 2025. But behind its display facade lies the same familiar anti-human military brutality and medievalism. People are broken physically and psychologically, beaten with sticks and hammers, chained to a radiator, put “in the pit,” subjected to sexual violence, and driven to suicide.

“There was a black rubber dildo in the officers’ room. It was called the "Black Mamba"... Any conflict, any confrontation, any unwillingness to obey superior command was punished with the "Black Mamba"... Everyone who tried to show character was either humiliated or sent into assaults”, Artem tells journalists.

It is worth noting that such “black mambas” are nothing unusual for the Russian army. We have already reported on how Russian soldiers torture and kill each other with rubber dildos. Perhaps this is that very defense of “traditional values,” but it looks more like unbalanced sadists satisfying unhealthy needs.
