This week, Cameroonian authorities confirmed the deaths of 16 citizens of their country who fought against Ukraine as part of the Russian occupation army. This figure is only a drop in the ocean of real losses among citizens of African states who fell for promises of well-paid work and Russian citizenship.

We know the names of 93 Cameroonians killed in Ukraine who had previously signed a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense. Today this list has become public. It includes many young people. The youngest person on the list was not even 19. He died less than 2 months after joining the Russian army.

Unfortunately, 93 is not the final number of Cameroonian citizens sent to their deaths by the Russians. Their number may run into the hundreds. There are almost 2,500 African mercenaries known to us in total (see the hashtag #mercenaries\of\the\Russian\Armed\Forces). The deaths of more than 300 of them have been confirmed.

We remind you that all foreigners looking for work and some kind of prospects in Russia receive only deception, humiliation, and a one-way trip to certain death. Africans are no exception. There are more and more stories of Russians using them as infantry that reveals Ukrainian positions at the cost of their own lives, as “openers”.
