Mediazona Found Confirmation of Damir Davydov’s Death After His Car Was Blown Up

Mediazona has found confirmation of the death of serviceman Damir Davydov, whose car was blown up in Balashikha near Moscow

The outlet found a mention of his death in state registries.

The date of death listed there is June 9, 2026.

🔵The explosion of a BMW X3 in Balashikha happened on the morning of June 9. Authorities and emergency services said that a man inside the car was killed in the incident, but did not name him.

🔵A few hours later, blogger Anatoly Shariy, the Telegram channel VChK-OGPU, and the Ukrainian website INSIDER UA published reports saying the dead man was Damir Davydov, an officer in the supply department of the Main Missile and Artillery Directorate (GRAU) of the Russian army.

🔵An Astra source said that in the same area of Balashikha, less than a kilometer from the site of the explosion, in April 2025, Deputy Chief of the Main Operations Directorate of the General Staff Lieutenant General Yaroslav Moskalik was killed by an improvised explosive device. According to the outlet’s source, Davydov and Moskalik knew each other.

🔵The operation to kill Davydov was carried out by Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU), The Insider reported, without specifying its source. A senior Ukrainian official, speaking on condition of anonymity, also told The New York Times that Davydov was the person killed in the explosion.
