Dagestan Head Sergei Melikov is stepping down from this post and moving to another job, Putin announced at a meeting with representatives of the region in the Kremlin.
“He has done a lot. And we are grateful to him for that. But he is moving to another job, life goes on,” he said.
For the post of head of the republic, Putin backed the candidacy of Dagestan Supreme Court Chairman Fyodor Shchukin; for the post of chairman of the government, Deputy Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Magomed Ramazanov.
Stability Arrives Through Another Replacement
Melikov is moved out as Shchukin and Ramazanov get new posts.
