Pavel Talankin’s Oscar was lost during a flight from the US to Germany

The statuette for the film "Mr. Nobody Against Putin" disappeared during Talankin’s flight from New York to Frankfurt am Main, one of the film’s creators, director David Borenstein, said.

According to him, airport security staff did not allow Talankin to take the statuette into the cabin as carry-on baggage. They decided that the Oscar could be used as a weapon.

As a result, the statuette was packed into a box and sent in checked baggage, but it never arrived at Frankfurt Airport.

Talankin is a videographer from the Ural city of Karabash, and the author and main character of the documentary film "Mr. Nobody Against Putin." The film won the Oscar in the Best Documentary Feature category. In Russia, the film was banned, and Talankin was declared a "foreign agent." Read about the film here.
