The Interior Ministry for the Republic of Karelia reported today that late yesterday evening police received a report of shots fired from a window of a building in Petrozavodsk. Rosgvardia officers went to the scene and detained the shooter. Preliminary reports say two people were injured and are receiving help.


The local outlet 78.Ru, citing sources, writes that the detained man turned out to be a 38-year-old serviceman and that he fired from a shotgun. He is now being “handled by military investigators.” The injured people, according to 78.Ru, are two 34-year-old men.
