Leningrad Region authorities will create mobile groups from reservists to defend against drones

The head of the region, Alexander Drozdenko, announced that a decision had been made on the need to “strengthen and reinforce” the protection of Leningrad Region from drone attacks. In particular, the authorities will provide additional material and technical assistance to the 6th Guards Air Force and Air Defense Army, which is stationed in the region.

In addition, there are plans to create additional mobile fire groups that will be deployed on the territory of enterprises and organizations that are critical infrastructure facilities. They will also be placed “at the disposal” of the 6th Guards Air Force and Air Defense Army and separate military units.

Reservists are expected to be recruited to form the mobile fire groups. Drozdenko appealed to residents, above all to former participants in the war in Ukraine, as well as “to guys with combat experience, retirees who served in the ranks of the Soviet and Russian army.”

“Through the Leningrad Regional Military Commissariat, we will offer people the chance to sign a three-year contract under the reservist scheme to take part in forming mobile fire groups and defending the Leningrad sky. At the same time, all reservists will be employed at critical infrastructure enterprises and organizations to protect those enterprises,” the governor wrote on his Telegram channel.
