Sergey Mamontov, a Russian military lawyer, describes how Russian military enlistment offices deceive students by promising them contracts for service in drone units.

We have already published two parts of lists of such students (list 1056, list 262), who were pulled into the war with promises of money and easy service in drone units.

In principle, recruiting yesterday’s schoolchildren in Russia has long ceased to be news. As the scale of recruitment grew, so did the number of families who, after their children signed contracts and were sent to war, began urgently looking for lawyers to terminate those contracts.

As the lawyer confirms, students signed contracts under the pretext of training as drone operators, but ultimately ended up in assault units. This con was designed specifically for students, advertising military service as a safe and simple pastime in the rear at a drone console. Recruiters conceal the fact that a drone pilot is now the highest-priority target in war, and that signing a contract makes a person an ordinary serviceman whom the commander may use at his own discretion.

In the fifth year of the war, Putin’s regime has failed not only to occupy Ukraine, but even to take Mala Tokmachka. The invasion has failed; any sane person would have already recognized the losses and moved on. But the Kremlin oligarchs need the war to stay in power, because when peace comes, there will be people who ask why hundreds of thousands died.
