Roskomnadzor is mass-opening cases against the world's biggest video game developers

As reports Verstka, since December 2025 at least eight administrative cases have been filed in court against major foreign video game producers over violations in the collection of Russians' personal data.

The issue is that they are required to store and process this information on servers located in Russia.

🔹Publishers Take-Two (GTA, Read Dead Redemption) and Electronic Arts (Need for Speed, Battlefield) were each fined two million rubles in April.

🔹In March, a similar fine was imposed on Battlestate Games studio (Escape from Tarkov).

🔹On April 27, a court in Moscow imposed a penalty on the major Chinese game developer NetEase Interactive (Marvel Rivals) (it is not yet known exactly what kind). In December, a warning under this article was issued to the company Lesta (World of Tanks).

🔹In the near future, courts will also hear cases against Epic Games (Fortnite and Gears of War), Digital Extremes (Warframe), and Embracer Group (Tomb Raider, Deus Ex).
