The Geography of Mercenaries Killed in Ukraine While Serving in the Russian Army Has Gained Yet Another Exotic Country
The geography of mercenaries killed in Ukraine while serving in the Russian army has gained yet another exotic country: Ukrainian intelligence has identified a citizen of Mauritius who was killed in the Sumy region.
Steven Boakye Prakash, born in 1995, arrived in St. Petersburg in June 2025 as a tourist. A month later, Russian security forces accused him of staying in Russia illegally and, in retaliation, offered him a contract with the Defense Ministry. The guy, to his misfortune, agreed. What awaited the African man next was brief training and deployment as an assault trooper. Steven was not destined to fight for long: he was killed as early as December.
According to the data available to us, at least around 500 citizens of African countries recruited by the Russians have already died in the war against Ukraine. The scheme by which they end up fighting in Ukraine is very simple: they are offered a high-paying job, given a visa, and their travel is paid for, but upon arrival, instead of an employment contract, they are deceitfully handed a contract with the Russian army. They may also be threatened with imprisonment for some alleged offense and forced to sign the required papers.
☝️We remind you that the best outcome for any foreigner who ended up in the Russian occupation army, whether by deception or voluntarily, is to fall into Ukrainian captivity. Our project accepts applications from everyone, regardless of citizenship, skin color, or religion.
