Yabloko denied registration for the St. Petersburg legislative assembly elections

The St. Petersburg Election Commission denied registration of the Yabloko party list for the city parliament elections, Fontanka writes. The reason given was that the party representative lacked the authority to sign the financial report.

The election commission explained that the party submitted the documents and filed the financial report, but the representative who signed it did not have the relevant powers.

Yabloko representative Pavel Shapchits objected that the list of powers in the power of attorney "is not exhaustive" because of the word "including," so the party's lawyer could submit the report.

Election commission head Maksim Meyksin replied that "powers not specified in the power of attorney are considered not granted," citing Central Election Commission documents.

At the same time, the election commission registered the lists of A Just Russia, New People, and the Communist Party.
