The Elektrozavod developer promised to preserve the complex’s facades and “recognizable features” during demolition. They noted that this is not about the “complete” destruction of the buildings

The press service of the Etalon group told the Moscow city news agency this.

“This is not about the complete demolition of the entire complex. The media may have published not entirely accurate interpretations based on unconfirmed sources. Our position remains unchanged: we share the value of the district’s established appearance and approach the task responsibly. We intend to preserve the facades and recognizable features of the historic buildings, integrating them into the modern urban environment. The project provides for the ‘delicate inclusion of historical heritage’ — this is precisely how our official concept for the development of the territory is formulated. According to the architects’ idea, the historical fabric of the complex should become the foundation of the district’s future development,” they noted.

The company added that the final parameters of the project will be determined after all approval procedures with the capital’s urban-planning complex are completed.

“We are not building copies. Our approach is to preserve authentic historic buildings and their atmosphere, rather than replace them with simulacra. This is a principled position confirmed by our experience. A vivid example is the project on the site of the former Alekseevskaya water-lifting station: there we managed not only to preserve, but to carry out a large-scale scientific restoration of cultural heritage sites, preserving their architectural authenticity, and to integrate them into a modern residential and business quarter. We intend to apply the same proven approach to Elektrozavod,” they explained.

🔵The plant’s neo-Gothic building was built in 1917 according to a design by architect Georgy Evlanov. The client was the joint-stock company “Partnership of Russian-French Factories for Rubber, Gutta-Percha and Telegraph Production ‘Provodnik.’”

🔵Since mid-2025, the complex has no longer been considered a cultural heritage site or an architectural monument. In June 2026, it became known that the authorities had allowed the building to be demolished.
