Yerevan native Artur Arakelyan ended up in Ukrainian captivity through the classic scheme: prison, the desire to get out, a contract, an assault. The Armenian was sentenced to 8 years in prison for complicity in the robbery of a jewelry store, served 3 years, and decided to go to war.

More precisely, according to him, he decided to go “serve in the rear.” That is what he was promised when signing the contract, but after three weeks of “training,” the man predictably ended up at the front. As soon as he arrived at the position of the 347th Motorized Rifle Regiment, he was sent on a combat mission to “reach the point and dig in.” His group spent three days walking to the position, then waited another three days for new orders, which never came. Ukrainian soldiers did come, however.

By his action, he made things better neither for himself nor for his relatives (except that he brought a 100,000 bonus to the Ukrainians who captured him). He merely confirmed once again that Russia deceives everyone, always.
