German prosecutors suspect a Russian citizen of trying to “disrupt gas supplies” in the country before the liquidation of Gazprom Germania in 2022

According to investigators, several weeks after the start of the full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war, when Gazprom announced it was leaving Gazprom Germania’s capital, the buyer of its stake tried to liquidate the company. Prosecutors believe this was intended to disrupt normal gas supplies to Germany as a key ally of Ukraine.

The main suspect in the case is a Russian citizen. He is suspected of violating investment rules and of aiding an attempted unconstitutional act of sabotage.
