War. What is happening on day 1582

Ukraine attacked the Orenburg gas processing plant and the helium plant that forms a single complex with it overnight, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said. Orenburg is more than 1,200 kilometers from the front line.

The Orenburg GPP is one of the world’s largest gas-chemical complexes, processing 37.5 billion cubic meters of gas a year. It was commissioned in 1974; its first director was Viktor Chernomyrdin, the future prime minister of Russia.
