The Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN) presented a design for a quickly assembled correctional center for people sentenced to forced labor.

The agency believes the project can be used by businesses interested in creating such centers at their facilities.

According to an FSIN representative, businesspeople are interested in building such centers because people sentenced to forced labor are “fairly disciplined workers,” since in the event of any violations they can be sent to a penal colony.

At the end of 2025, FSIN head Arkady Gostev said that Russia had about 400 centers for people sentenced to forced labor, with capacity for up to 50 thousand people.

According to the FSIN’s estimate, about half of such centers were created by business representatives, who receive tax breaks for this.
