Write to the defendants in the Vesna case! This week they received sentences of up to 12 years in a penal colony

All the defendants in the Vesna case are young people. The oldest of them is only 30. They wrote posts online, went to rallies, and worked as election observers. Each of the defendants also has many interests, from rock music to studying Latin. Here is what they are interested in and what you can write to them about:

🟠 Anna Arkhipova, 28. A student from Novosibirsk. She is interested in marketing. Two years before her arrest, Anna took in a cat and named her Tori; she misses her very much while in detention. Anna gave up meat and follows a vegan diet even in detention. She was sentenced to 12 years in a penal colony.

🟠 Vasily Neustroev, 30. A St. Petersburg resident who studied in the history department and taught children history and Latin. He lived with his grandmother, grandfather, and a cat named Rufus. He was sentenced to 10 years in a penal colony.

🟠 Yan Ksenzhepolsky, 26. A resident of Tver who worked as a welding production specialist. In his free time he worked on solving problems in his hometown, volunteered and served as an election observer, and was interested in history. He was sentenced to 11 years in a penal colony.

🟠 Pavel Sinelnikov, 24. A resident of Barnaul. He grew up in a single-parent family and was a “homebody” child, an introvert. In 2019 he enrolled at Novosibirsk State University, but almost immediately dropped out and returned to Barnaul. He was sentenced to 7.5 years in a penal colony.

🟠 Yevgeny Zateev, 24. He writes poetry, listens to rock, and dreamed of becoming a programmer. In the pre-trial detention center his eyesight worsened and he began having dental problems. While he was in custody, his grandmother and mother died; Yevgeny was not allowed to attend the funerals. He was sentenced to 6 years and 2 months in a penal colony.

🟠 Valentin Khoroshenin, 24. A native of Crimea, he studied international relations at St. Petersburg State University and was a co-founder of the bar-lecture space “Fogel.” He was interested in politics, sociology, and international relations. He pleaded guilty and testified against the other defendants. He was sentenced to 6 years and 2 months in a penal colony.
