Apple explained the removal of VKontakte apps from the App Store by citing sanctions

In a comment to the BBC Russian Service, Apple said that all apps belonging to the VK company were removed from the App Store in accordance with sanctions compliance rules, because the company follows the laws of the jurisdictions in which it operates.

Apple did not specify exactly which sanctions were involved.

Earlier, on TV Rain, cyberlawyer Sarkis Darbinyan said that although VK itself had not been placed under US and EU sanctions, its owners had long been under them:

Obviously, there was a very strange picture when sanctions had been imposed on the beneficiaries, but the company calmly distributed its apps and continued making money through American platforms.
